Ever imagine places with sandstone monoliths and a tight slot canyon? Well, these are the wondrous sights to hike, lodge and stay over, all in a package in Zion National Park. The time you enter the Zion Canyon, what might caught your senses are the Temple of Sinawaya, The Sentinel, and The Narrows, Angel’s Landing, Virgin River, Court of the Patriarchs, Great White Throne, Checkerboard Mesa, Kolob Arch and the Watchman Camps.
Pushing Through The Narrows
You may first take a look at the canyon’s end where the Temple of Sinawaya stands as the gateway to the famous “Narrows” which resembles a slot canyon which is elevated at the height of 2,000 feet surrounded by the Virgin River. While across the Temple, passing through the south there lays the Angel’s Landing standing 5,990 feet above sea level which keeps the sight of the great Canyon incredible, especially to those trekkers who would manage to climb the top and watch the heavenly wonders.
The Virgin River has been carrying the park’s landscape for over 13 million years now while bringing up some other wonderful natural creations such as the Carmel Formation, Navajo Sandstone, Temple Sandstone, Kayenta Formation, Chinle Formation then to the Moenave Formation. As the National Park was being compared to other well-known parks, still, Zion breaks the record by having its developed existence since November 19, 1919, making it the oldest and most visited national park in Utah.
Looking at the Zion Canyon
Moreover, there were not only just dominant sandstone walls that encrypts themselves within the Zion Canyon but also the hidden hanging greens surrounded by wild flowers and rich vegetation that might be expected to grow abundantly in these desert surroundings in the Southwest.
However, hikers could then have short climbs to the pools of shimmering hot waters and most of the summer’s thunderbursts dripping down the cliffsides. Heading out the canyon is reaching the east part park scape wherein campers will encounter the Checkerboard Mesa having its one-of-a-kind crossbedding patterns. Then while tracking down the corner they may find the world’s largest sandstone arches called the Kolob Arch which curves up to 287.4 feet. This corner of Zion also, entails a much shorter hike for them to reach another arch experience in the Double Alcove.
As big walls are for big climbers, it attracted the visitors to find less effort to feel the backcountry sceneries, making them enjoy the 271 bird species just within reach. These flocks pass through these walls in the Park each year, giving it a chance to preserve nature in Zion National Park’s habitat. Making it popular for most birdwatchers, the surrounding landscape would be best for photographers, painters and landscapers’ ideas.
Lounging after a whole lot of tiring, dehydrating travel and hike, campers would be free to choose where is the best place to relax and stay long through the night from the best camps present in the Zion National Park. Two main options would be the South and Watchman Campsites just located at the south entrance of the Park.

Best Camp Sites
However, it’s still in a first come first serve basis as it is still in operation for the development of more cabins. The camp grounds would be a lot challenging for two as it has no RVs. The sites cost for $16 a night at the South while the Watchman serves it for $18 a night. Tent sites are much cheaper for only $16 a night though it may not be too homey for couples. Definitely, after a long night’s sleep, another adventure waits in the Zion and it’s for them to discover it once more.
